A so enthusiastic look:

Through the contrast between the forest and its reflection in the lake, this painting reminds us the boundary of the unknown and imagination which plays with our perception. For example ,on left side a brown form escapes from spectator vision, then who can imagine what he wants, such as a rest of tree or a man chest. The sketch barely detailed is also ideal for a personal vision of this painting. Moreover this work is interesting and singular for its representation of a forest itself exhibited in a woodland.

I chose to present this work mainly for its realization and for my passion of drawing. First, colours are in harmony with the mystery of the painting and impression of reflection perveived in the lake is realistic. Strangeness is also underlined by the forest barely detailed. In addition, I feel this painting poetic thanks to the evocation of the sunrise on trees foliage, which colours remind impressionist artists like Claude Monet.

All things considered, this painting merits to win the competition. The mystery allows to develop spectator’s imagination. Consequently, every one can appreciate this realization and get his own opinion to make this painting personal...

Another perspective from Italy :

I chose this painting because in my opinion it represents a lot of the concept of women and all their frontiers and limits...

I really like the gecko watching the scene, and he makes me understand that we women will never be alone

A french recommandation:

I will present to you the border that it is possible to perceive in this painting, then my personal opinion and finally why it is my favorite work. The painting is composed of one main element: the slightly naked body of a woman to attract attention and a pond behind her. But after looking at this painting longer, we see the famous blue creature. The imaginary blue creature behind the women is not immediately visible.
The boundary between what is clearly perceived and what is hidden adds a layer of mystery ans intrigued to the work. The presence of the imaginary creature and the salamander evokes a world where the real and the imaginary coexist. This creates a boundary between the everyday reality represented by the women and the fantastical world simbolized by the creature ans the salamander.
I am intrigued by the work because it reflects an aspect of my personality, such as a curiosity for the invisible or a fascination with hidden worlds and mysteries.
The composition of the painting, with the women at the center ans the fantastic elements integrated, creates a harmonious visual balance, The colors, notably the white of the dress and the blue of the creature contrast and draw the eye, while the salamanderin the foreground adds an intriguing detail.

A "natural" choice :

First of all, we see a artificial ski track, with many people behind nature. We can see a border between the construction of humans and nature. Secondly, this painting contains many colors : green for the tree, blue for the sky, white for track et orange, yellow, black for the people.
I choose this painting because we see the human construction in natural places like montains leads to a worsening of global warming. The frontier of the "wild" world is receding!

5.

Animal lovers like it:

- We can find in this painting a squirrel, a bird and a forest in the background/ that shows the difference between terrestrial animals and volatile ones in the nature, because squirrels usually stay in their place of life and also in the forest, whereas birds can move and to cross borders

- We chose this painting because it represents the nature with animals in the forest, moreover, it’s painting on a tree, that accentuates the environment which is represented, and we adore squirrels

- We find that this painting is aesthetic because colors are representatives of the nature that we already know, it’s kind of attractive and simple, and the squirrel is very cute and and lovely.

10.

Political feelings?

Daiga Cedere-Sainaya's work at first glance arouses a set of emotions.
The ensemble of animals depicted, the bright color tone, gives a sense of peace and tranquility when looking at the painting.
The image refers to the theme of inclusion and acceptance;
A work that celebrates diversity, in this case we have an example with animals, can convey a sense of inclusion and acceptance, inviting viewers to reflect on the beauty of difference and the importance of welcoming everyone.Diversity has always seemed to be a problem and not a source of personal and collective wealth, but also asource of creativity.

The process of crossing a border can involve conflicts and struggles, both internal and external. A painting that depicts these dynamics can evoke feelings of endurance and perseverance.I n an increasingly interconnected world, crossing borders can represent globalization and the connectionbetween peoples and cultures. This can evoke reflections on interdependence and international collaboration.

The painting is an example of crossing a boundary, that is: the animals, which can go to depict people, therefore with different cultures, are specially drawn serene, one sleeping leaning on the other, a wonderful image, despite this proximity.
It is important in my opinion that the author has chosen many different shades and colors to try to depict such a complex and always fought topic, animals from a certain point of view could represent different ethnicities and cultures, you can have a reflection on identity and at the same time a cultural exploration, that is: cultural diversity can arouse a sense of wonder and curiosity towards traditions, customs and practices different from one's own, as animals do and as we can do too.

A work like this that challenges stereotypes and preconceptions can inspire a critical reflection on society and push viewers to question their own beliefs and perceptions about diversity.

Three arguments :

  • First of all in this work we can distinguish different borders. A first separating day (left) from night (right). A second separating the two opposing seasons : winter (right) and summer (left). And finally a last one distinguish nocturnal animals (on the right) from diurnal (on the left).

  • This painting hat a great emotional impact on me because having spent a large part of my childhood playing in nature, it brought back memories for me, wich is why I choose it.

  • This painting is beautiful because of the emotion it gives off and the colors used. There are many elements wich immerse us even more in the picture .

11.

Simple romantism:

«Egļu Veris», or «Spruce Blood» in English, is a painting made by Kristian Musikants.
The artwork, inspired by cubism and impressionism, showcases Baldone’s forest using bold colours and high contrast in the palette to create a clear separation between the forest, the background and the sky. However, if we put a black and white filter over the painting, we realise that those border blend into eachother because of the similar values, blurring the distinction between sky and earth.                    >>

Moreover, in spring and/or summer the painting can blend into the landscape very easily when looking from afar, but in winter the painting stands out against the snowy white forest. This creates a border between seasons, or even memories and the present if we consider that the viewer might have seen the previous scene earlier in the year.

At the first sight of this painting, we can imagine different interpretations of the purpose.

For me when I see the dull colors on the painting and the falling leaves, I imagine the leaves as lives falling from the tree. If we see it this way we can say that the painting shows us a border between life and death. We can also imagine another way to see the painting. In fact with the contrasted colors between a little of blue, green and brown, we can supposed that it’s a boundary between seasons and here between summer and autumn.
I chose this painting because first I like nature, I also like the drawing style. To add I also find this painting relaxing because of the simplicity without too much details and the colors used.

So if you like nature and simplicity like me, I would recommend you to chose this painting

12.

A man il Love:

In this painting made by Andrejs Bovtovics, we see the border of 2 cities. We can see aswell the nuance between the dark colors at the top in opposite of the brighter colors at the bottom. We can suppose that the women on the right is trying to kiss her husband on the left because they finnaly arrive in Baldone, a beautiful city, etc.

This painting symbolize the love in Bladone, I think.

13.

Good location:

Two borders are visible in this painting : we can see a border between the red color of the foreground building and the absence of color on the rest of the painting. We can also notice the border, the contrast between "the painting of an urban space" within a forest. I chose this painting because it appealed to me. Indeed, I have lived in the city since I was a child and I immediately loved this painting which made me think of my hometown. In my opinion, this painting is beautiful and deserves to become our favorite painting thanks to the significant contrast between colors and shapes. It is my favourite painting. I also find this painting pleasing thanks to the “pen” texture of the background as well as the realistic appearance of the painting.

14.

Free and beautiful:

We can see a border between the sky and the ground and the border of nature. I choose this painting because I love nature and I like to visit new places. This painting is beautiful because it represents nature and all its qualities and it’s a merite to become the favourite painting.

First of all, we can see an owl in the foreground, and one could imagine that it represents a boundary between the earthlly and celestial worlds. The vibrant colors used really capture your attention. The owl in full flight adds a sense of freedom and power to the artwork. Additionally, the oil painting technique provides extra texture and depth to the image and that’s why I like this painting.

Unattainable:

I chose this painting because it makes me think of crossing borders. This is because I think that people who are looking at the sky are looking at their memories and looking at their past is stillcrossing borders because it is not always easy to do so. I find myself very much in this painting because for me it is very difficult, as for everyone
